So Eden has a tendency to smash her face up against the bumper in her crib....not something I'm too crazy about. How that girl moves in her swaddle me blanket I will never know. We always put her in the same place, parallel to the bumper on the far right hand side. Occasionally she'll remain in one spot, on others she will have turned herself perpendicular to the bumper...and yet on others, there she'll be, all the way on the left hand side of the crib, nose smashed in the side! All this to say, aidos bumper. Not really into my girl suffocating!
Not only did Dr. Ramsdell confirm this yesterday (by the way, baby girl gained 8oz on one week!), but after reading online, I'm thinking "less is best". No sleep positioner (we trashed that baby when she was 1 week old), no blanket, no stuffed animal, no bumper. Just a nice sheet, ours happens to be super cute pink polka dots, and sweet Eden....wrapped all snuggly in her swaddle me. I suppose she'll learn to stear clear of the edge of the crib the first night she bangs her head against the railing. *Oh, please don't let that happen!*
In other news, Eden is quite the efficient eater. Downing her entire meal in 7 minutes flat. After this was happening for a week I started to get nervous and we did weight checks at the doctor. This is where we found she had gained 8oz in a week! I sort of figured she was doing fine, seeing as she sleeps well, and she felt heaver (the kitchen scale even posts an Error sign b/c she's too heavy), and I could see the hind milk when she was finished. It was great to have it confirmed by her doctor that everything's okay, and turns out her children were the same way. Who knew, right?
By the way, I can't tell you how much i LOVE Dr. Ramsdell. Unfortunately for anyone reading this (assuming you live in the Raleigh area and have little kiddos) she's not accepting new patients. But when and if she does, seriously....get in there. I would really love her to be my doctor, but it seems she only sees folks up to age 18. Rats. It's so fun knowing though that Eden will be there until she graduates High School! Assuming we still live in Cary, of course. But how fun is that! I bet she just loves her job! Finding a ped for our little girl weighed so heavy on my heart when I was pregnant. I am so picky about doctors and medical care, and knew I needed to find the right one. God was so faithful to put 2 people in my life who's kids went to her office and highly reccomended her after hearing some of the questions I had. People make fun of me at times for being so Type A and doing things so early, but this time...it seriously paid off. Dr. Ramsdell likes to sit down with prospective patients before coming to the practice so she can get to know you and vice versa. I did this when I was 4 months pregnant. She didn't even know I was expecting a child. However, if I wouldn't have been so type A, little Miss Eden would not be seeing her right now, because, as I mentioned before, she quit seeing new patients back in January! Okay...enough about her.....and enough about me and my crazy organization.
I'm going to go check on Eden as she sleeps and maybe snap a picture of her face against the bumper. I've already moved her once this nap. Don't worry....I'll move her again if need be. Maybe I'll position her in the right spot just for picture sake....j.k.

in her swaddle me....not against the bumper...rats!

after unwrapping her....doesn't she look so sweet when she's tired?
